Associate Sourcing Specialist

Essential Functions

  • Maximize sales and customer satisfaction by managing New Item Sourcing process utilizing Departmental Vendor/Maker Matrix to achieve Quality, Delivery and First Cost goals. 
  • Ensure New Item Sourcing supports First Cost goals.
  • Prepare analysis of categories as requested by Strategic Sourcing Lead to identify opportunities to improve Quality, Delivery or First Cost.
  • Support Assistant Sourcing Specialist during sample review meetings
  • Support Merchants in finding sources for new products
  • Communicate new vendor offers to Merchants and follow up
  • Suggest and share best practices, process/procedure improvements
  • Escalate sourcing issues to Strategic Sourcing Lead in a timely manner
  • Abides by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice
  • Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • 1 – 3 years of experience in off shore sourcing, buying/merchandising in a retail or manufacturing organization.
