As our SmileMakers Inside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for obtaining orders from target SmileMakers customers by completing outbound sales calls, fax, mail, and e-mail, and ensuring all information is accurate.  Informing the customer of current special offers, delivery methods and times, out of stock items, substitutions, and price information and following-up as needed on orders processing, including tracking previous orders per customer request.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities


Essential Functions


  1. Assists Sales team to meet or exceed established sales goals set by SmileMakers by placing outbound sales calls to customers initiating sales opportunities from past buyers, follow-up on promotional mailings, back orders, sample orders, price quotes, or satisfaction with the products
  2. Achieve minimum SELLING TIME level of 40% - (Talk to customers for roughly a minimum of 3 hours and 15 minutes per day).  Estimated number of calls you need to complete to achieve the Selling Time goal of 40% will vary between 100 and 160+ calls per day
  3. Processes, enters, and verifies: phone, e-mail or fax orders utilizing the current order entry system
  4. Utilize sales training in order to increase average order size
  5. Informs customers via the telephone, e-mail and/or fax of current special promotions
  6. E-mail correspondence from SmileMakers’ e-mail software program
  7. Processes customer requests for catalogs, Accounts Receivable invoices, prices, and product information
  8. Coordinates customer requests with management and the appropriate warehouse personnel, requesting samples as necessary
  9. Assist customers with issues including, but not limited to credits, refunds, shipping questions, quotes, promotions, invoices, new accounts, call tags, miscellaneous billing, and reships
  10. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  11. Abides by all policies and procedures of SmileMakers and Oriental Trading Company
  12. Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice
  13. Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors

  1. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned or as the situation dictates

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent



  • Minimum three months of customer service experience
  • Inbound and Outbound Call Center experience preferred


Other Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with minimal supervision, to meet priority deadlines
  • Ability to operate the current operating system software
  • Ability to learn about SmileMakers products, special promotions, and prices
  • Ability to place outbound phone calls and deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Must be able to read and navigate through numerous computer windows in an efficient manner while speaking with customers
  • Ability to perform job duties in a safe manner
