As our SmileMakers Merchandise Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting all Merchandise Department initiatives and maintaining accurate product data.

This position takes place on-site in Spartanburg, South Carolina. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Support and adhere to SmileMakers’ Vision and Values Statement
2. Maintain accurate product information in SmileMakers US and Canadian databases
3. Perform product uploads as needed for new items
4. Update the system with price changes and promotional discounts
5. Maintain Change Sheets to implement all product related database, website and catalog changes
6. Work with Merchandisers to ensure accuracy and timely set up of new products
7. Update the system database with pricing, item codes, sales restrictions, country of origin and vendor information for all new products
8. Measure, label and organize all new product samples before passing along to Creative Dept. for photography
9. Develop effective sales copy through accurate product descriptions key word set-up
10. Run market sales reports to assist in catalog pagination process
11. Execute and evaluate Merchandise and Purchasing reports as needed for research
12. Help Merchandisers evaluate competitor pricing
13. Proof all new catalogs to ensure accuracy of product pricing, codes, descriptions and images are accurate
14. Address product and database related questions from other departments in a timely manner
15. Monitor the website on a regular basis and work with Web Team to ensure that all product information is accurate
16. Help resolve product quality issues
17. Proof email promotions and notify Market Managers of corrections
18. Prepare new product samples for Customer Service Kickoff Meetings
19. Review daily Backorder Report and suggest replacement products for customers
20. Abide by all policies and procedures of SmileMakers and Oriental Trading Company
21. Maintain regular and predictable attendance
22. Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice
23. Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees of organization
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
• Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Must have strong computer skills
• Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and numerous Internet browsers

Education

• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred

Experience

• 3-6 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
• The employee is frequently required to talk or hear
• The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
